INS Tushil on 27 December 2024 docked at Casablanca, Morocco as a step toward a stronger bond between India, Morocco, and bilateral naval cooperation. Morocco, like India, is a maritime nation with unique strategic geographical locations along the coasts of the two oceans-the Mediterranean and the Atlantic.
The visit of the Indian warship will further develop new possibilities of operations between both navies. In the past year, three ships of the Indian Navy, Tabar, Tarkash, and Sumedha have called on Casablanca thereby boosting mutual confidence and interoperability.
Among the activities during these two days would be the crew of INS Tushil functional engagement with the personnel of Royal Moroccan Navy, hosting by senior officials, and strengthening and goodwill-naval cooperation and diplomatic ties. After this visit, a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) will take place at sea between both navies to build better interoperability and share best practices.
IND Tushil, inducted on 9 December 2024 in Russia, is waived by Captain Peter Varghese with a crew of 250 men. While reaching its home port at Karwar, the frigate will also hold joint exercises with friendly foreign navies thus further promoting India-based maritime diplomacy in the region.
