Indian Navy’s Frontline Frigate, INS Tabar, Arrives in London for a Four-Day Visit

Indian Navy’s advanced stealth frigate, INS Tabar, docked at London Harbour on August 7, 2024, for a four-day official visit. This visit underscores the deep-rooted maritime relationship between the Indian Navy and the Royal Navy, a bond that has flourished over the years. Both navies have a history of mutual visits and joint exercises, including the annual Konkan naval exercise, which has been a cornerstone of their collaboration.

During its stay, INS Tabar will engage in a series of professional interactions with the Royal Navy, aimed at strengthening bilateral maritime ties. In a gesture reflecting the philosophy of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s concept of *Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam* (the world is one family), the ship's crew will also provide community service to retired members of the Royal Army at an old age home.

INS Tabar, commanded by Captain M.R. Harish, is a notable example of India’s naval prowess. Built in Russia, the frigate is part of the Indian Navy's Western Fleet based in Mumbai under the Western Naval Command. With a complement of approximately 280 personnel, the ship is equipped with an array of advanced weapons and sensors, marking it as one of the earliest stealth frigates in the Indian Navy.

This visit aims to bolster bilateral relations in the maritime sphere and serves as a platform to showcase Indian culture and maritime capabilities.
