Indian Army Contingent Departs for Multinational Military Exercise KHAAN QUEST At Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia

The Indian Army contingent has departed for the prestigious Multinational Military Exercise KHAAN QUEST, scheduled to take place from July 27 to August 9, 2024, in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

This exercise will unite military forces from around the globe to enhance their peacekeeping capabilities and foster international collaboration. The previous edition of KHAAN QUEST was held in Mongolia from June 19 to July 2, 2023.

Initiated in 2003 as a bilateral exercise between the USA and the Mongolian Armed Forces, KHAAN QUEST has evolved since 2006 into a Multinational Peacekeeping Exercise. This year marks its 21st iteration.

The Indian Army’s contingent of 40 personnel will be primarily composed of troops from a Battalion of the Madras Regiment, along with members from various other Arms and Services. Notably, the contingent will include one Woman Officer and two Women Soldiers.

The primary objective of KHAAN QUEST is to prepare the Indian Armed Forces for peacekeeping missions in a multinational setting, thereby enhancing interoperability and military readiness for peace support operations under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter. The exercise will emphasize physical fitness, joint planning, and tactical drills.

Participants will engage in various tactical drills, including the establishment of static and mobile checkpoints, cordon and search operations, patrolling, evacuation of civilians from hostile areas, counter-IED drills, combat first aid, and casualty evacuation.

KHAAN QUEST will offer an invaluable opportunity for participating nations to exchange best practices in tactics, techniques, and procedures for joint operations. The exercise aims to strengthen interoperability, build camaraderie, and foster strong professional relationships among the soldiers of the participating countries.
