"India-US Strategic Technology Partnership Advances with High-Level Meetings and Industry Dialogue"

Jake Sullivan, the US National Security Advisor, met with PM Modi during his recent visit to India, where he provided updates on various aspects of bilateral cooperation, particularly under the Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technologies (iCET). These areas include semiconductors, Artificial Intelligence, telecom, defense, critical minerals, and space, among others.

PM Modi expressed his satisfaction with the rapid progress and extensive scope of the bilateral partnership across all sectors. He highlighted the convergence of viewpoints on regional and global issues of mutual interest. Additionally, PM Modi reaffirmed his commitment to further strengthen the Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership for the greater good and elevate it to new heights during his new term.


Subsequently, Jake Sullivan and Ajit Doval, India's National Security Advisor, chaired a comprehensive review meeting of the India-US iCET initiative at Hyderabad House, New Delhi. They took stock of the significant advancements made by both countries in deepening strategic cooperation across pivotal technology domains, including space, semiconductors, advanced telecommunications, artificial intelligence, quantum computing, STEM fields, biotechnology, critical minerals, and clean energy. Both leaders acknowledged the immense potential for further exploration and utilization of technology cooperation in these sectors.



The review meeting was attended by senior representatives from various ministries and departments of both India and the US. Discussions focused on enhancing mutual collaboration and addressing outstanding barriers in trade, technology, and industrial cooperation. A joint factsheet released after the meeting underscored their shared commitment to fostering enhanced collaboration among governments, industry, and academia in targeted focus areas.


In addition to the iCET review, Doval and Sullivan convened an industry roundtable on June 18th organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). This event brought together prominent industry leaders from both nations, including representatives from Thayer Mahan, General Atomics, Jeh Aerospace, Holtec, Cummins, Alsym Energy, Axiom Space, 3rdiTech, BHEL, Bharat Forge, Bharti Airtel, Bhukhanvala Industries, Centum Electronics, L&T, Tata Advanced Systems, Tata Power, and Tejas Network. Industry participants shared their experiences in bilateral collaboration thus far, their vision for advancing cooperation, and identified specific areas where government facilitation could play a crucial role in overcoming barriers and fostering deeper collaboration.
