The Indian Army contingent set off today for the 15th edition of the India-US joint Special Forces Exercise VAJRA PRAHAR, scheduled from November 2 to 22, 2024, at the Orchard Combat Training Centre in Idaho, USA. This follows the last exercise held in Umroi, Meghalaya, in December 2023. Notably, this will be the second joint exercise of the year between the Indian and US armies, with the previous one, Exercise YUDH ABHYAS 2024, taking place in Rajasthan in September.

Each contingent will consist of 45 personnel, with the Indian Army represented by Special Forces units and the US Army by Green Berets.

The aim of Exercise VAJRA PRAHAR is to enhance military cooperation between India and the US, focusing on interoperability, joint operations, and the exchange of special tactics. The exercise will improve their combined capabilities in conducting joint Special Forces operations in desert and semi-desert environments, emphasizing physical fitness, joint planning, and tactical drills.

During the exercise, participants will rehearse various drills, including planning a Joint Team Mission, conducting reconnaissance, utilizing Unmanned Aerial Systems, executing special operations, and managing psychological warfare tactics.

VAJRA PRAHAR will provide both sides with the opportunity to share best practices and experiences in joint Special Forces operations, fostering interoperability, camaraderie, and friendship among the soldiers of both nations.
