A high-level delegation from the India-Sweden Business Leaders Roundtable (ISBLRT) is visiting New Delhi this week, led by Leif Johansson, a distinguished member of ISBLRT, Chairman of the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation, and former Chairman of AstraZeneca and Ericsson. The delegation’s visit underscores the growing economic and strategic partnership between India and Sweden, with a strong focus on innovation, sustainability, and future technologies.

Key engagements during the visit included discussions with Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce & Industry, and Jitin Prasada, Minister of State for Commerce & Industry, reaffirming the commitment of both nations to deepening economic collaboration. The presence of Maria Malmer Stenergard, Sweden’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, and Jan Thesleff, Ambassador of Sweden to India, further emphasized the robust bilateral ties between the two countries.

The delegation also had the privilege of meeting with Dr. S. Jaishankar, India’s Minister of External Affairs, whose leadership continues to strengthen India's global partnerships and diplomatic outreach. The discussions focused on expanding cooperation in key areas such as trade, technology, and sustainable development.

A significant highlight of the visit was an interactive session with Lord Alok Sharma, former President of COP26, and Magnus Schöldtz, Director of the Wallenberg Office. The session explored global challenges and opportunities for deeper collaboration in sustainability and innovation, aligning with both countries' shared vision for a greener future.

At a special roundtable session with the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), the delegation engaged with Nandan Nilekani, Chairman and Co-founder of Infosys, to discuss the transformative role of digital public infrastructure in driving inclusive growth and technological innovation.

Industry leaders such as Börje Ekholm, President & CEO of Ericsson, and Carl Pei, Founder & CEO of Nothing, also shared their ambitious plans for India, highlighting key opportunities for investment, technology development, and market expansion.

Adding further momentum to their visit, the delegation is actively participating in the Raisina Dialogue 2025, where India’s dynamic economic growth and international collaborations take center stage. Engaging with Hon. PM Modi and other distinguished policymakers, the delegation is contributing to high-level discussions on shaping the future of global trade, digital transformation, and sustainable economic cooperation.
