The Department of Telecommunications, in collaboration with the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), is set to host the Eighth edition of the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2024 from October 15th to 19th at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, India. This prestigious event will bring together industry leaders, innovators, and policymakers under the theme ‘The Future is Now’, symbolizing India’s pivotal role in the ongoing technological revolution.
The theme for IMC 2024 was unveiled on July 19th by Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region. It underscores India's position at the forefront of technological advancement, emphasizing how IMC 2024 will serve as a catalyst for global collaboration to shape the technologies shaping our world today.
Minister Scindia described IMC as a global melting pot, highlighting how the theme ‘Future is Now’ reflects India’s capabilities, achievements, and future potential in technology. He noted India's shift from being a technology consumer to a technology provider, applauding key telecom initiatives such as The Telecom Act 2023, the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme, and the rapid deployment of 5G.
IMC 2024 anticipates over 400 exhibitors and 640 startups from across the globe, showcasing their latest products, solutions, and use cases to more than 150,000 attendees, including delegates from over 120 countries. As one of the largest tech expos worldwide, IMC has historically been a hub for significant digital transformations across the Technology, Media, and Telecom (TMT) sectors. The event will feature Aspire, a pioneering startup program aiming to facilitate over 500 one-to-one meetings, connecting startups with potential investors, angels, incubators, and venture capital funds.
This year, IMC coincides with the World Telecommunications Standards Assembly (WTSA) 2024, the ITU-T's governing conference for telecommunications standardization. This parallel event will facilitate discussions and keynotes on emerging technologies such as 6G, 5G, Artificial Intelligence, satellite communications, semiconductors, electric vehicles (EVs), and more. Decision-makers and industry leaders from around the world will converge at IMC 2024 to discuss the future of these technologies and their impact on global telecommunications.
