India-Latvia Trade & Investment Opportunities Highlighted at CII India-Europe Business Exchange

CII India - Europe Business Exchange Program was held in New Delhi today. In the keynote address at Latvia Session, Baiba Braže, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Latvia called for further cooperation to conclude the talks on free trade agreement between India and Europe.

The Country Session on Latvia at the CII India-Europe Business Exchange Program highlighted the widespread opportunities present in Latvia for Indian businesses in areas such as green energy and mobility, bioeconomy, photonics, smart materials, and engineering systems. Moreover, the panel featured business leaders from a spectrum of industries in Latvia, including space, deeptech, and organic farming certifications. Finally, the session highlighted the relationship between the European Union and India and the acceleration of the talks on the India-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA). 


Additionally, the session reinforced the importance of India-EU collaboration, emphasizing the mutual benefits of enhanced trade relations and investment partnerships. The discussions also underscored Latvia’s role as a gateway to Europe for Indian businesses, offering access to advanced technologies, innovation ecosystems, and sustainable development initiatives.


The session was also addressed by several distinguished speakers, including Juris Bone, Ambassador of Latvia to India; Gints Zadraks from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia; and Inese Šīrava, Deputy Director of the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia. Industry leaders also contributed to the discussions, such as Mihails Ščepanskis, Authorized Representative of the Latvian Space Industry Association and CEO of Deep Space Energy, Ltd.; Pavels Razmajevs, COO of Eventech, Ltd.; and Veronika Malnača, Head of Growth and Partnerships at DeskTime, Ltd. Additionally, Massimo Pigni, Member of the Board at Nordichem, Ltd.; Jekaterina Romanova, CEO of PrintyMed, Ltd.; and Ieva Lāce, Deputy Member of the Board at Serifikacijas un Testestesanas, shared their insights. Amresh Ohri, Member of the CII Europe Council and Vice President of GMR Group, also participated, highlighting key aspects of India-Latvia collaboration.


With a shared commitment to fostering innovation and economic growth, both India and Latvia aim to strengthen their partnership and explore new avenues of collaboration in the coming years.
