The India-Ghana Partnership Day celebrations last week in Accra were an important milestone, underscoring the enduring partnership between our two countries. Hosted by the High Commission, the event brought together the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) programme and ICCR alumni, Ghanaian dignitaries and senior government officials, friends from the media, and eminent members of the Indian community.

Emelia Arthur, Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture of Ghana, also an ITEC alumna, graced the occasion as Chief Guest. The evening was further enriched by the alumni sharing their enriching experience of learnings in India, and the mesmerizing cultural performances that followed.

The ITEC programme stands as a testament to India’s commitment to development cooperation in the Global South. Established in 1964, it is one of the oldest institutionalized arrangements for international capacity building, having trained more than 200,000 officials from 160+ countries in Asia, Africa, East Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean, and Pacific and Small Island countries.
The ITEC programme resonates well in Ghana. This year, the Government of India has generously provided over 400 fully financed slots in Ghana for higher education for graduation and postgraduation and training under the ITEC programme in health, governance, environment, ICT, and other disciplines
