High Commissioner of the United Kingdom to India presented credentials to the President.

H.E. Mrs. Lindy Elizabeth Cameron, High Commissioner of the United Kingdom presented credentials to the President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu at a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on May 31, 2024.


Ms. Lindy Cameron CB OBE assumed her role as the first lady British High Commissioner to the Republic of India in April 2024, succeeding Alex Ellis CMG. Lindy expressed her enthusiasm for her new position, stating to the media, "Immensely proud to be appointed the next British high commissioner to India. Huge thanks to Alex Ellis for leaving such a great legacy. So looking forward to working with the amazing UK In India team. I can't wait to get started"


Prior to her appointment, Lindy served as the CEO of the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre from 2020 to 2024. Her career spans over two decades, focusing on international development, national security policy, and crisis management.


Hailing from Northern Ireland, Lindy began her career in the private sector before joining the Department for International Development (DFID) in 1998. She worked as an adviser in Nigeria, Vietnam, and the Balkans before assuming leadership roles in DFID's offices in Baghdad and Kabul. Lindy played a pivotal role in shaping DFID's humanitarian, conflict, and Middle East policies following the Arab Spring.


Throughout her career, Lindy has held various positions across the government, including serving in the Cabinet Office during the financial crisis, leading the Provincial Reconstruction team in Helmand, Afghanistan for the Foreign Office, contributing to the Ministry of Defence's senior staff courses, and heading the joint cross-government Stabilisation Unit.
