The Commerce Committee of the Finnish Parliament embarks on a significant visit to New Delhi and Mumbai from September 9-14, this visit marks a key moment in strengthening ties between Finland and India. The delegation seeks to gain a deeper understanding of India’s vibrant economy and explore ways to enhance bilateral trade and investment opportunities.

 


In New Delhi, the Finnish delegates shall meet with Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister of Finance & Corporate Affairs and Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce and Industry. These meetings are anticipated to provide valuable insights into India’s economic policies and industrial strategies. The delegation will also tour the Indian Parliament, offering them a closer look at the legislative processes that influence the country’s economic landscape.

 

A significant part of their visit will involve engaging with various chambers of commerce in New Delhi. This interaction aims to highlight how Finnish companies can navigate the Indian market, identify potential business opportunities, and explore avenues for future collaborations.

 

When the delegation moves on to Mumbai, they will gain hands-on experience with investing in India. They’ll discuss with Finnish businesses already operating in the region, gaining practical insights into the investment climate. The visit to the Reserve Bank of India and the National Stock Exchange will provide a comprehensive view of India’s monetary policy and financial systems. Additionally, the Committee will meet with leaders from the Maharashtra parliament and government, broadening their understanding of regional economic factors.

 

A standout moment of the visit will be the celebration of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Finland and India on September 10. This event will not only celebrate the long-standing relationship between the two countries but also highlight the ongoing collaboration and mutual respect that define their partnership.
