YAGI Koji, Consul General of Japan in Mumbai

Assuming the role of the new Consul General of Japan in Mumbai on April 26th, 2024, Yagi Koji embarked on his first assignment in India. Despite being new to the country, he recognized India's prominent role in the Global South and Mumbai's representation of a vibrant economy.

"The enduring relationship between Japan and India, marked by annual visits from heads of state, serves as a testament to their strong ties. This bond is further solidified by the designation of a Special Strategic and Global Partnership, encompassing various sectors including politics, security, economy, and culture," mentioned Yagi Koji. Under the able guidance of the Consul General of Japan in Mumbai, the western region of India is expected to exemplify cooperation, with ties deepening and strengthening between Japan and the states and union territories in the area.

Consul-General Mr. YAGI paid a courtesy call on Mr. Ramesh Bais, Honorable Governor of Maharashtra.

Committed to fostering greater exchanges in economy, business, culture, and academia, Yagi Koji is determined to facilitate such growth. Additionally, with a significant presence of Japanese enterprises and individuals in Western India, particularly in Maharashtra and Gujarat, ensuring the safety of Japanese nationals, including those in business and tourism, is paramount.

Yagi Koji pledges to collaborate closely with Indian governmental and security entities to uphold this commitment and support the seamless operation of Japanese companies within the Consulate General's jurisdiction.
