Bishwadip Dey IFS, Appointed as the High Commissioner to Tanzania.



Bishwadip Dey, an accomplished Indian Foreign Service officer currently serving as Joint Secretary in the Department of Atomic Energy, has been appointed as the next High Commissioner of India to the United Republic of Tanzania. With his extensive experience spanning over two decades in the Indian Foreign Service, he is slated to assume this new role shortly.


Bishwadip Dey began his career in the Indian Foreign Service in 2001 and has held diverse and significant positions both within Indian Missions abroad and in the Ministry of External Affairs in India. Prior to his assignment in the Department of Atomic Energy, he served as Deputy High Commissioner to the Republic of Bangladesh and as High Commissioner of India to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, with concurrent accreditation to the Republic of Grenada, Dominica, and Montserrat. He has also served as Head of Representative of India office in the State of Palestine and as Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of India in Bhutan. His international assignments have included postings in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Egypt.


Bishwadip Dey's career highlights include his tenure as Director of External Publicity and Public Diplomacy in the Ministry of External Affairs, where he played a pivotal role in shaping India's external communications strategy.


In his new role as High Commissioner to Tanzania, Bishwadip Dey brings a wealth of diplomatic experience and expertise, poised to strengthen further the bilateral relations between India and the United Republic of Tanzania.
