Assam CM Leads Delegation to South Korea for ‘Advantage Assam 2.0’ Summit Promotion

The Embassy of India hosted a high-level delegation from Assam, led by the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, from January 19–21, 2025, to engage local stakeholders about the upcoming ‘Advantage Assam 2.0 Infrastructure & Investment Summit’ in Guwahati (25-26 February 2025). The Embassy facilitated roadshows and meetings with local stakeholders, including government, businesses, and industry associations.



During the visit, the Assam CM met RoK Minister of SMEs & Startups, Oh Young-ju, to discuss strengthening connections between Korean startups and Assam's growing startup ecosystem. He also held meetings with senior representatives from industry associations KOTRA and KITA, as well as companies across various sectors such as manufacturing, energy, semiconductor, and electronics. A roundtable with the Foundation of Korea Automotive Parts Industry Promotion Association was also held, and the delegation visited Pangyo Techno Valley, where they interacted with Indian participants at the K-Startup Grand Challenge.


During the Assam Investment Roadshow, CM Sarma highlighted recent advancements in Assam's manufacturing, infrastructure, semiconductor, and energy sectors, inviting Korean businesses to participate in the Advantage Assam Summit. The Roadshow garnered a positive response from 150 Korean business representatives.



Ambassador Amit Kumar emphasized Assam's critical role in India's energy sector, upcoming electronics manufacturing cluster, solar power development, and its strategic proximity to ASEAN countries. Kim Chang Beom, Executive Vice Chairman of FKI, addressed the participants, and KK Dwivedi, Principal Secretary to the CM, provided an in-depth presentation on Assam's investment opportunities. The event was organized by the Indian Chamber of Commerce in Korea in collaboration with the Federation of Korean Industries and the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.


An Assam Tourism Roadshow was also held, drawing significant participation from Korean tour operators. The delegation also visited Hangang River.
