4th India - Bangladesh Consular Dialogue held in New Delhi

The Fourth Round of the India-Bangladesh Consular Dialogue was held on 29 May 2024 in New Delhi. Dr. Aman Puri, the Joint Secretary (CPV), headed the Indian delegation, while Rokebul Haque, the Director General (South Asia) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, led the delegation from Bangladesh.


Established in 2017, the India-Bangladesh Consular Dialogue aims to bolster interpersonal connections by establishing an efficient channel for communication regarding consular matters, visas, and mutual legal assistance between India and Bangladesh.


During the dialogue, both sides engaged in comprehensive discussions regarding mechanisms to enhance coordination and cooperation on consular issues, including visa affairs, repatriation, Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty, and extradition cases.


Furthermore, both sides reaffirmed their dedication to advancing people-to-people interactions and agreed to convene the next round of dialogue in Dhaka at a mutually convenient time."
